Darlene Yan opened the meeting with an opportunity for EM2024 staff and volunteers to share their favorite memories of Fred Espenak, who shared with the eclipse community last month that he was entering hospice. Troy Wilson, EM2024’s software engineer and Machine Learning specialist, gave a brief presentation on his work with calibrating and processing the photographs submitted after the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. He answered questions from Hannah Hellman and the viewers. Michael Kirk, a Heliophysics scientist at NASA Goddard, joined us for our Volunteer Meeting this month and spoke about the science of the analyzed photograph from Troy. Hannah spoke about her presentation at the upcoming Conference for Advancing Participatory Sciences in Portland, Oregon at the end of May.
